Dismantling Barriers in the Cycling Industry and Creating More Inclusive Spaces
“
I am a curator and organizer currently based in the coastal mountains of a region now known as Santa Cruz, CA. For over a decade I've been using bicycle travel as a way of exploring my relationship to the worlds within and without. As a trans and genderqueer adventure cyclist I find myself seeking out the in between places, finding trails and unpaved roads to connect the dots between people, places and ideas.
After working for several years as a tours specialist and cycling guide, I left the full time bike life. I returned to the world of arts nonprofits where I now work to organize collaborative exhibitions that help dismantle social norms and share underrepresented stories. You can find my essays on art and cycling in Adventure Cyclist Magazine and The Bikepacking Journal.
I am grateful to be in community with several cycling organizations whose work advocates for a greater understanding of our relationship to place and to each other. As a regional adviser with Bikepacking Roots and former co-organizer with the Radical Adventure Riders I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to advocate for and celebrate our relationships to the lands on which we live, travel, and connect with one another.
